SHILLONG, May 29 - Seven more COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Meghalaya, taking the total active cases to 14 even as the State is limping back to normalcy following relaxation of lockdown restrictions.
In a tweet this evening, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said: �6 more residents who had returned to the State have tested positive for COVID19. 3 from South West Garo Hills, 1 from West Garo Hills, 1 from East Khasi H, and 1 from West Khasi Hills. They have come from Maharashtra, Bangalore, West Bengal and Chennai. All are under quarantine and asymptomatic.�
In an earlier tweet today, the Chief Minister had said: �Another person who had travelled from Haryana has turned out positive. Person is in Tura and under quarantine.�
The State has so far sent 7,340 samples for tests, out of which 6,893 have been negative and the results of 420 are still awaited. Moreover, 10,655 stranded people have arrived in the State from all over the country.
A special train is on its way from Kerala, carrying 352 people, which will reach Meghalaya on May 30, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said.
Moreover, another train from New Delhi is reaching with 174 people. A train from Goa will be reaching the State on May 31 with 99 people. �For other destinations, talks are on, especially with Maharashtra. Both our and Maharashtra governments are working out the date for the train for stranded people staying at Pune and Mumbai,� the Deputy Chief Minister added.
