7 migrant workers injured in Manipur blast

IMPHAL, Sept 24 - Seven persons, mostly labourers were injured in a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) explosion here on Monday, police said.

The incident took place in front of an automobile parts store located close to the gate of Majorkhul locality around 5.45 am, they said.

According to Police, seven labourers suffered splinter injuries when the IED, suspected to have been planted by unidentified miscreants, exploded as people were coming out for work.

The injured persons were rushed to the nearby hospitals for treatment. Most of injured hail from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh but are presently staying in Imphal.

No armed group operating in the region has claimed responsibility for the incident till the report goes to the press.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case in connection with the incident and investigation has started, according to police.
