7 Manipur ultras chargesheeted

NEW DELHI, Sept 16 � The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charge-sheeted seven suspected ultras belonging to the outlawed Kanglei Yaol Kanba Lup (KYKL), including its �c-in-c� Ningthoujam Tomba.

The chargesheet was filed before the Darjeeling court in West Bengal under relevant provisions of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against Saraswati Rai, Sorokhaibam Memcha Devi, Rama Chanu, Sorokhybam Menjor Singh, Neera Tamang and Kangujam Rabi Singh (absconder).

The NIA had on April 24 registered a case (No. 06/2010) pertaining to the arrest of Ningthoujam Tomba alias Koineng alias Rajen along with his three lady associates identified as Saraswati Rai, Sorokhaibam Memcha Devi and Roma Chanu on March 14 in Darjeeling. Investigation of the case was entrusted to a special team headed by a Superintendent of Police.

The NIA team conducted investigation at various places in West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Sikkim, Delhi and Karnataka and examined a large number of witnesses, got forensic analysis of several seized electronic gadgets and documents done and interrogated the arrested accused persons, sources said.

Investigation revealed that Ningthoujam Tomba had established a safe house and base camp for his terrorist activities in North Bengal with the help of S Menjor, Neera Tamang and K Rabi Kumar.
