7 killed in road mishap

BAIHATA CHARIALI, Nov 30 � Seven persons died on the spot and more than ten others were injured in a road accident here today. According to reports available, the mishap occurred around 7.30 am on National Highway 52 at Kshudra Palaha here when a passenger bus (AS-12 E-0321) moving to Guwahati from Dhekiajuli collided head on with a Maruti Alto car (AS016-5403) coming from the opposite direction in front of the Baihata Chariali Health Clinic, about 200 metres from the Baihata Chariali police station.

�The accident was horrible as the Alto was completely mangled and it was even difficult to recognise it�, said an eyewitness. The local people said that seven bodies were lying at the edge of the boundary wall of the health clinic.

The police here identified the bodies of the deceased as those of Mafizuddin Ali (25), driver of the Alto car and a resident of Baligaon village under Thelamara PS, Abdul Hussain (17), son of Miraj Ali of Baligaon village, Fazal Ali (30), son of Asraf Ali of Lakuwapara village under Garubandha police station and Sahjahan Ali (20), son of Mahmud Ali of Dhanbandha under Garubandha PS. Local people identified the three remaining bodies as those of Akbar Ali (25), Amir Hussain (26) and Nased Ali (26). All the deceased were in the ill-fated Alto car and were engaged as labourers at a private company in Kerala.

More than ten other persons, who were travelling in the passenger bus, were injured and sent to the GMC after primary treatment at Bezera CHC by the local police.
