GUWAHATI, April 21 - Acting on a specific tip-off, Chirang Police last night arrested seven jehadis from Daukhanagar and Amguri areas in the district.

Those arrested are: Joynal Abedin (32), Md Badshah Mondal, Soleman Ali (28), Dildar Ali (23), Md Nurul Islam (27), Rafiqul Islam and Ukhiluddin (33).

Chirang police has been relentless in its operation against the jehadis in the State and has so far arrested 29 cadres belonging to the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in a span of last one year or so.

Chirang Superintendent of Police Shankar Raimedhi said that the arrested persons divulged during questioning that a physical training camp was set up near Amguri Bazar in addition to the Daukhanagar camp that was busted by Chirang Police in September last year.

Four cell phones were also recovered from their possession, Raimedhi said, adding that questioning is going on.

Sources said some more arrests of these anti-national elements could follow based on the revelations of the arrested.
