7 held for poaching

KOHORA, May 18 � Altogether seven persons were apprehended from Kuthori, Kohora and Numaligarh in connection with the poaching of a rhino in Kaziranga National Park. Sources said Forest personnel and police jointly carried out the operation. Initially, the police had recovered a rhino horn from Bijon Das, Muzibur Rahman and Manik Hali travelling in an Alto car at Numaligarh during a search operation. In their confessional statement, the trio revealed the identity of other poachers and Forest and police personnel jointly apprehended Lakhi Barua, Ananta Baruah of Mohpara area of Kohora and Kushal Bora and Nabi Hussain of Kuthori. Cash worth Rs 3.45 lakh was recovered.
