TURA, July 15 - East Garo Hills Police on Tuesday busted a gang of criminals, who were involved in the kidnapping of a South Garo Hills coal trader from Rengdim village in West Khasi Hills district. The gang was arrested by the police at Rongjeng.
According to information received, the trader, Rintu Marak, a resident of Jadi in South Garo Hills, was kidnapped from Rengdim. He was later released at Dobu in East Garo Hills on payment of ransom on July 13.
The police managed to nab the gang along with the kingpin on the following day. They also recovered cash and a motorcycle used in the crime.
