JALUKBARI, March 19 - In a major breakthrough, Gorchuk police today arrested seven dacoits who were involved in a sensational robbery in the house of an ex-commandant of SSB at Ahomgaon, Milan Nagar, a few days back.
While six of the criminals identified as Ganesh Basumatary (24), Ganesh Lama (21), Shankar Karmakar (30), Javed Khan (29), Rontu Barman (24) and Ankur Jyoti Rabha (18) were arrested from different parts of Guwahati city, Mahanta Brahma (32) was picked up from Baksa district.
The police also recovered the i20 car and the mobile phone which the dacoits had taken away from the ex-commandant�s house along with cash and valuables.
It may be recalled that the dacoits had entered the house of former SSB commandant Kasung Solomon in the wee hours of March 16 and looted cash, gold ornaments, a mobile handset and a Hyundai i10 car.
