6th Bhairabkunda Tourism Festival from today

UDALGURI, Jan 16 - The sixth edition of Bhairabkunda Tourism Festival, with the motto of enriching brotherhood, mutual understanding, peace and harmony, is going to be held from January 17 to 20 here at Bhairabkunda, the picturesque tri-junction of Assam (BTAD region), Arunachal Pradesh and neighbouring Bhutan with a four-day cultural exchange programme among various ethnic linguistic groups of the region.

A powerful tourism festival committee was formed to this effect at Udalguri town committee hall recently with Rihon Daimari, local MLA and State minister as chairman, Tridip Daimari, Speaker of BTC Assembly as working chairman and Robinson Daimari as the chief convenor respectively. Along with the main committee, nine sub-committees were also formed to make the festival a success. A mouthpiece sub-committee was also formed to bring out the Bhairabkunda, the mouthpiece of the festival.

According to sources, local artistes from neighbouring Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh will present their cultural items as a token of cultural exchange with the local artistes from the Assamese, Bodo, Gorkha, Adivasi, Santhali, Rabha, Koch-Rajbongshis, Hindibhashi and Bengali communities of the region during the four-day cultural exchange festival. The festival will have other programmes like sports, drawing contest for children, quiz and cooking competitions, the festival celebration committee informed.
