AIZAWL, Sept 9 - With the detection of 69 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, Mizoram recorded the largest single-day spike as well as the highest positivity rate in a day.
All the fresh cases, including 48 BSF and six Indian Army personnel, were detected from 299 samples tested at the Zoram Medical College laboratory here, an official source said.
All 179 samples tested through rapid antigen tests (RAT) and 14 samples examined at the Lunglei Civil Hospital�s TrueNat laboratory tested negative, it said.
Besides the security personnel, 15 civilians, including two non-local construction workers, two minor girls and a five-year-old boy, also tested positive.
All of them got infected after they came in contact with positive persons and had been under home quarantine, the source said.
Of the total 1,192 cases in Mizoram, 447 are still active, while 745 people have recovered from the disease so far. The State has two migrated cases, which were not added to the tally. There is no COVID-19 fatality in the State as yet.
