GUWAHATI, Jan 27 - The 67th Republic Day was observed by a host of organisations and institutions in the capital city.
The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Assam Pradesh took out a two-wheeler procession and appealed to the youths to come forward and participate in the nation building process.
Maligaon-headquartered Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) celebrated the 67th Republic Day on Tuesday.
At Maligaon, the national flag was hoisted by HK Jaggi, General Manager of NFR, in presence of a large gathering of staff, officers and public.
Later, the General Manager distributed fruits to patients undergoing treatment at the NFR Central Hospital, Maligaon.
A new operation theatre was also opened at the NFR Central Hospital on the occasion by the General Manager.
The Brihattar Bhetapara Jestha Nagarik Samittee celebrated the day by saluting the Tricolour and organising a symposium on the topic, �Role of Senior Citizens in the Indian Democracy�.
The Sunny Akash Society observed the day by holding an art contest and distributing woollens amongst the poor children.
The Nilachal Jatiya Vidyalaya also celebrated the day with enthusiastic participation of the students.
Jagriti, an organisation for social, cultural and educational development, organised an on-the-spot art competition on the occasion of the 67th Republic Day among the children at Rooftop Garden, Biponon Kshetra, Panjabari Road here, a press release stated.
The winners were: Group A (4-7 years) � Darshan Pratim Kashyap (first), Joshika Kashyap (second) and Rizuwan Akhtar (third); Group B (8-14 years) � Tarali Borah (first), Kaushika Kashyap (second) and Priyanchi Borah (third).
Republic Day was celebrated at the North East Cancer Institute, 9th Mile. Ganesh Tamuly, chairman of the hospital trust, hoisted the National Tricolour in presence of the staff and patients of the hospital, said a release.
