DIPHU, June 24 - The 66th�foundation day of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) was celebrated on Friday�at the KAAC Secretariat Complex here. The celebration began with different programmes starting from�7 am�with garlanding of the statue of Semson Sing Ingti, the founder of Karbi Anglong district at Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park near the Member Hostel and Council Lake respectively. Subsequently, floral tributes were offered to the statue of Khorsing Terang, the first CEM of Karbi Anglong Distrct Council situated at Khorsing Terang Memorial Park near the KASA ground. Later, the official KAAC foundation day celebration was followed by hoisting of the National Flag at the KAAC complex, which was done by Principal Secretary of KAAC, Jayashree Daulagupu.
The souvenir of the KAAC was released by the Principal Secretary in association with KAAC Deputy and joint secretaries. Plantation of ornamental saplings was carried out in Diphu town and fruits were distributed to the patients of Diphu Civil Hospital by the KAAC authority.
A cultural programme was subsequently held at Joysing Doloi Auditorium. The cultural programme was organised by the Art and Culture Department of KAAC.
However, no elected KAAC MACs were present during the foundation day celebration due to the party-level meeting in Guwahati.
