663 active cases in Manipur

IMPHAL, June 23 - With 23 new cases, the COVID-19 tally of Manipur has increased to 921. The total number of active cases stands at 663, State Health officials said here today.

In the last 24 hours, 23 persons were confirmed COVID-19 positive after tests at the VRDLs of the RIMS and the JNIMS, an official press release stated. The cases are from Chandel, Churachandpur, Imphal West, Kakching, Kangpokpi and Senapati, the release added. All are returnees from other States. They are being shifted to COVID care facilities.

Meanwhile, eight persons were discharged from the COVID Care Centre, UNACCO, after they tested negative. With this, the total recoveries have now gone up to 258.

As on Tuesday, 40,829 have been tested for COVID-19, another official source stated. Altogether 18,699 inmates are currently staying in quarantine centres, including paid quarantine centres, while 29,348 others have already completed quarantine.

Meanwhile, as part of the ongoing drive against violators of lockdown restrictions, the Manipur Police detained 526 persons who were released later after warning, said Additional DGP (Law and Order) L Kailun in a press release. Further, 350 vehicles were seized and a sum of Rs 64,350 was imposed as fine.
