66 file nominations in Udalguri district

KALAIGAON, March 19 - A total of 66 persons filed their nomination papers for the 10 council constituencies for the BTC election in Udalguri district. The BTC election will be conducted separately for Bhergaon and Udalguri subdivision.

According to information received from Gokul Chandra Brahma, ADC and Returning Officer, 28 persons submitted their nomination papers at Bhergaon on March 18, the last date for submission of nomination papers.

In 31 Khwirabari (ST), six persons filed nomination papers, including Lwamsrao Daimari of BPF and sitting EM of BTC, Babul Basumatari (UPPL) and Bhabendra Boro (BJP). In 32 Bhergaon (ST), four candidates, including Nerswn Boro of BPF and sitting Deputy Speaker of BTC, Daobaisa Boro (UPPL) and Phatik Kachari (BJP) filed nomination papers. In 33 Nonwi Serfang, six persons, including Suresh Tanti of BPF and sitting MCLA, Krishna Bahadur Giri (UPPL) and Sanjit Tanti (BJP) filed their papers. In 34 Khalingduar (ST), five persons including Bonjar Daimari of BPF and sitting EM of BTC, Dilip Kumar Boro (UPPL) and Arjun Daimari (BJP) filed their nomination papers. Similarly, in 35 Mwdoibari, seven persons, including Jagadish Sarkar of BPF and sitting EM of BTC Anthoni Basumatari (UPPL) and Diganta Barua (BJP) filed their nomination papers.

On the other hand, 38 candidates filed nomination papers at the office of the Returning Officer cum Deputy Commissioner for Udalguri subdivision. According to Prakash Ranjan Gharphalia, Returning Officer of Udalguri, in 36 Harisinga (ST), six candidates filed nomination papers, including Tridip Daimari of BPF and sitting Speaker of BTC Sanjay Swargiary (UPPL) and Rinjay Boro (BJP). In 37 Dhwnsri (ST), seven candidates, including F Mochahari (BPF), Rujugra Mochahari (UPPL) and Radheswari Boro (BJP) filed nomination papers. In 38 Bhairabkunda (ST), six candidates, including Ripen Daimari of BPF and sitting MCLA Gobinda Basumatari (UPPL), Birdao Basumatari (BJP) filed nomination papers.

In 39 Pasnwi (Non ST), seven candidates submitted their nomination papers. In 40 Rowta (ST), 12 candidates filed their nomination papers.

Meanwhile, the major political parties have geared up their campaigning along with their supporters.

The candidates are holding bike rallies and street corner meetings to woo the voters.

Gossaigaon ANN Service adds: Altogether 27 candidates filed their nomination papers for ensuing BTC election in Gossaigaon yesterday.

In Gossaigaon, there are six BTC constituencies for which political parties have geared up their activities. The political experts who are closely monitoring the situation are of the view that a tough electoral battle is on the cards.
