655 active cases in Manipur

IMPHAL, July 24 - The total positive cases of COVID 19 in Manipur reached 2,146 today with 655 active cases and 1,491 recoveries, an official source said.

During the past 24 hours, 31 persons were confirmed positive. They belong to Churachandpur, Imphal East, Imphal West, 37th Assam Rifles, Jiribam, Thoubal and Ukhrul.

Six persons from Thoubal and Imphal West districts are without travel history. All the rest are returnees from other States.

Meanwhile, 31 persons have been discharged were also discharged after recovery during the past 24 hours. The recovery rate currently stands 69.47 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Manipur capital city wore a deserted look due to the ongoing lockdown that came into effect on July 23. The other district headquarters of the State were also empty of people and vehicles. Security personnel were deployed at strategic locations to monitor the situation. The lockdown will end on July 30.

Meanwhile, the Manipur Government has issued an SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for Army, Assam Rifles and Central paramilitary forces reporting for duty in Manipur. State Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu issued an office memorandum in this regard today.
