635 active cases in Manipur

IMPHAL, July 16 - With 64 new cases of COVID-19 detected in the past 24 hours, the total positive cases reached 1,764 in Manipur today. The total active cases stand at 635.

The 64 persons, including 48 males and 19 females, were confirmed positive at the VRDLs of the RIMS (48) and JNIMS (16), stated a press release issued by the Manipur Health Department. The infected persons belong to Churachandpur, Imphal West, Kakching, Kamjong, Tamenglong, Senapati, Ukhrul and Thoubal districts.

All (except a volunteer from Thoubal district) are returnees from other States, the release added.

Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, 49 persons have been discharged from the COVID Care Centres located at Meitram, Senapat, Tamenglong and Ukhrul and the COVID care facility of the JNIMS, after their recovery.

With this, the recovered cases have reached 1,129, with the recovery rate being 64 per cent.

As of Wednesday, a total of 3,04,342 persons have been screened at various entry points of Manipur, while 6,58,660 samples have been tested for COVID-19. Altogether 55,733 persons have completed their quarantine, while 4,111 are still lodged in various quarantine centres in the State.
