60 model hospitals to be set up in State

GUWAHATI, July 17 � The State Government has so far (till July, 2010) received an amount of Rs 2,390.78 crore from the Centre under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).

The year-wise break-up since 2005-06 onwards is �

Rs 110.56 crore (2005-06),

Rs 203.12 crore (2006-07),

Rs 571.11 crore (2007-08),

Rs 577.71 crore (2008-09),

Rs 614.99 crore (2009-10) and Rs 313.27 crore (2010-11).

The year-wise expenditure by the State Government is Rs 9.12 cr (2005-06), Rs 127.31 cr (2006-07), Rs 442.18 cr (2007-08), Rs 583.87 cr (2008-09) and Rs 622.47 cr (2009-10).

This was revealed by State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in reply to a question by Hiren Das (AGP) in the Assembly on Friday.

The minister also told the House while replying to a query by Tara Prasad Das (Congress) that 60 model hospitals would be set up under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in 60 constituencies of the State, and site selection had already been done in the case of 57 hospitals.

Each hospital would entail an expenditure of Rs 4 crore and the MLAs were supposed to select the possible site in their respective constituencies. Work on the hospitals would progress within the current financial year, the minister said. In addition, 50 separate hospitals would come up in the char areas.
