6 year-old Garo boy still in captivity

By Correspondent

TURA, June 11 - A six year-old boy, who was kidnapped by a group of about five criminals on June 8, is yet to be traced, police said.

The minor, son of one Inderswell Sangma of Dangkong in North Garo Hills was kidnapped by the gang after locking his parents in an adjacent room.

The kidnappers, who also forcefully took the family car, later abandoned the vehicle near Nalbari in Assam, leaving behind a phone number to contact.

Police believe the kidnapping to be the handiwork of a criminal gang led by one Mithun Sangma of Menadoba.

The local MLA of Kharkutta, Cherak W Momin, has issued an appeal to the abductors for the safe release of the boy. The kidnapping has also been condemned by local NGOs.

We are yet to make any headway in the case though all efforts are being made to ensure the boys rescue, said district police chief, Dalton Marak.
