GUWAHATI, June 21 - Six members of the United Liberation Front of Asom (I) have laid down their arms before the Assam Police last evening in Tinsukia after which they were brought to Guwahati today.
The surrendered militants are Pranab Gogoi, Apurba Moran, Satyajit Moran, Jishu Doley, Rituraj Moran and Abhijit Gohain. They also deposited some arms and ammunition.
�The surrendered militants were forced to extort money from small tea growers and indulge in kidnapping, which they found difficult to obey,� police said, adding, the ultras were camping in a base near the India-Myanmar border.
