6 new COVID-19 cases in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, June 12 - Six more persons tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Arunachal Pradesh last night.

With the detection of the new cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the State has risen to 67. The number of active cases in the State is 63, while four patients have recovered from the contagious disease so far.

Of the six new cases, West Kameng district reported three cases, Changlang two and Longding district one.

All of them are returnees from other States and asymptomatic. They have been shifted to the COVID Care Centre from quarantine facilities.

�The three cases of West Kameng are military personnel who had returned from Bihar. The two cases of Changlang are returnees from Noida and the one in Longding had returned from Gujarat,� a bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services of Arunachal Pradesh Government said.

�The three Army personnel came from Bihar in an Army convoy. The Army has their own protocol and all of them will be taken care of accordingly,� a senior Health official said.

The official stated that contact tracing is being done by the Army and the district surveillance team to find out if they had come in contact with any civilian after they reached their camp at Dahung.

A total of 13,479 samples have been collected so far in the State for testing. Of these samples, 11,613 have tested negative, while results of 1,627 are awaited.
