GUWAHATI, Oct 20 - The Centre for South East Asian Studies (CSEAS), Gauhati University (GU), is introducing a six-month certificate programme on �India and Eastern Neighbours (South and South East Asia)� from January, 2019.
According to a press release issued by the CSEAS GU, the programme is intended to introduce India�s eastern neighbours in South and South East Asia and its importance to the different segments of the Indian society and thereby to promote understanding and research about the region.
The programme is open for different segments of society especially for policy makers, journalists, research scholars, members of the civil society, NGO activists and advocates, among others. The participants/students will be exposed to both in-depth classroom deliberations and on-field experiences.
Select panellists of national and international experts, professors, journalists, ambassadors and senior bureaucrats have been invited to take classes and interact with the students/participants. The certificate programme will engage the students/participants in a 15-day field visit to border areas of Bangladesh and Myanmar. The programme will have an intake capacity of 30 students at the most, for the academic year. Interested people may visit the website: www.cseasgu.org to know the details, said the press release.
The CSEAS of GU was established in 2017 with a budgetary (2016-2017) support from of the Government of Assam and it is currently operating from the GU Department of Political Science. It is the first of its kind in North East India. It is mandated, among others, to further dialogue for facilitating the implementation of Government of India�s Act East Policy, said the press release.
