6 killed in separate road mishaps

GUWAHATI, Jan 12 � At least six persons were killed in separate road accidents in the State last 24 hours as the sudden increase in the number of road mishaps has become a cause of serious concern.

Our Nalbari Correspondent adds: Three persons were killed and another injured in two separate road accidents at Bilpar and Kundergaon in Nalbari district today. In the first accident at Bilpar on NH-31 under Ghograpar police station, two persons namely, Bahadur Khandakar and Subodh Saha of Goreswar, were killed when their 407 mini truck coming from Barpeta towards Goreswar hit another truck early this morning. One person was also seriously injured in the mishap.

On the other hand, in another accident, one Bire Ali of Kundargaon village under Ghograpar police station was killed when a speeding tractorrun over him.

Our Tezpur Correspondent adds: Three persons were killed in a road mishap near Jia Bharali bridge on NH-52 under Jamuguri P.S in Sonitpur district at 11.30 pm on Wednesday.

According to police, a speeding truck bearing registration No. AS-01-CC-9994 run over two employees of Assam Agricultural and Marketing Board check gate killing one on the spot while the other succumbed to his injuries at Kanaklata civil hospital here today. Police further added that one of the staff of the truck was also killed in the accident whose identity is yet to be confirmed.

The deceased were identified as Joyram Das, who died on the spot and Deba Hazarika . Both the victims were residents of Diplonga Matora, police added.
