SIVASAGAR/DERGAON, Sept 10 � Altogether six persons died in two separate road mishaps in the State.
In the incident in Sivasagar district, three persons � Sajid Ahmed (30), Babul Ahmed (31) and Ibrahim Ali (43) of Zenganikatia � died on the spot when their Maruti 800 car dived deep into a wayside pool near Longsat bridge on Desang road last night.
Police recovered the bodies this morning and sent them for post mortem. A pall of gloom has descended over the area on the eve of Eid.
In the other incident, three members of a football team of Balijan died on the spot and another 15 injured when the pick-up truck they were on collided head on with a three-wheeler on NH37 at Balijan, under Dergaon PS this afternoon.
The dead were identified as Bihuram Bhuyan, Gundulo Ghatowar and Kapil Ghatowar and they were heading for Bahguri.
