6 killed, 3 hurt in mishaps

MANGALDAI, June 21 � Six passengers travelling in a Magic van were killed and three others seriously injured in two separate road accidents on the NH52 near Kharupetia last night.

In the first incident one Magic van (Regn No.AS13C 1590) carrying seven passengers from Kharupetia to Mangaldai collided head on with a truck (Regn No. AP17 AS 7739) around 10 pm killing four on the spot.

Two of the three critically injured passengers succumbed to injuries on way to Mangaldai Civil Hospital. The six victims have been identified as Dhanjit Das (26), Rintu Haque(28), Pankaj Barua (27), Younis Ali (25), Safikul Islam (28) and Abu Haque (26). Dilbor Ali (26) has been shifted to GMCH in critical condition.

In the second incident that took place past midnight Jyoti Das (30) and Subhas Rai (35) travelling in an Alto (ASO7A 4916) suffered serious injury when the ill-fated vehicle reportedly collided with a sand laden truck a few hundred metres away from the spot of the first incident. Both of them have been shifted to GMCH.
