KOHIMA, May 30 � Six persons, including three women, were arrested for illegal transportation of huge quantity of species of Ginseng and Pangolin scales in Kohima, police said here today.
Police while conducting checking along Chakhabama road on the outskirts of the State capital yesterday intercepted three vehicles and recovered 502 kgs of Paris Cautifolia (species of ginseng) and 10,008 kgs of Pangolin scales which is an endangered species, said police.
The ginseng is worth Rs 25 lakh while the Pangolin scales amounts to Rs 15 lakh in the international market. The six arrested hailing from Manipur were trying to smuggle the banned substances in three vehicles, but were intercepted. � PTI
