6 from NE win Sahitya Akademi awards

GUWAHATI, June 26 � Six litterateurs from the North-east, including four from Assam, were chosen for this year�s Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar, Bal Sahitya Pura-skar, and Bal Sahitya Puraskar for overall contribution to children�s literature.

From Assam, veteran author Eli Ahmed won the Bal Sahitya Puraskar for overall contribution to children�s literature, while Mridul Haloi bagged the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for his volume Akale Aso Kushale Aso � a collection of poems. Bodo writers Leben Lal Mwshahary won the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for his short story collection Khwmsi Harni Arni Alari, while Tiren Bodo won the Bal Sahitya Puraskar for his novel Bokhavli.

Manipur�s Thokchom Thouyangba Meitei bagged the Bal Sahitya Puraskar for his short story collection Eshusha Pupu Waree Leerage. Another Manipuri writer, Angom Sarita Devi won the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for her poetry volume�Mee Amasung Shaa.
