GUWAHATI, Oct 7 - Prime accused in the Sub Inspector recruitment scam PK Dutta, who was arrested on Tuesday, was today produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup (Metro) which remanded him to six-day police custody. Dutta, after being arrested from the Indo-Nepal border, was brought to Guwahati by Assam Police in the wee hours today.

Prior to his production before the Court, the former Deputy Inspector General of Assam Police was taken to the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital where he tested negative for COVID-19. Although the Criminal Investigation Department of Assam Police prayed for seven-day custody, the Court allowed custody for a period of six days for questioning, a top Assam Police official said.
