6 communities plan fresh agitation

By Correspondent

BONGAIGAON, Nov 6 - Leaders of six indigenous communities of the State, who are seeking ST status, met here today to fix their next course of agitation in favour of their demand.

In the meeting, organised under the banner of Chhay Janagosthir Oikya Mancha, the leaders slammed both the Congress government in the State and the BJP at the Centre for their apathetic attitude towards the long pending demand.

To press for their demand, the leaders called for a 12-hour Assam bandh on November 16. They also decided to stage a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on December 4, besides submitting a memorandum to the Union Government.
