5th ULFA cadre held in Guwahati blast case

GUWAHATI, May 18 - Another ULFA cadre, Chinmoy Laskar, was arrested on Saturday in connection with the recent grenade blast in Guwahati, taking the number of arrests to five. Laskar, according to police, is a resident of Christian Basti area of the city and had joined the outfit recently.

Investigators have so far arrested five persons � Pranmoy Rajguru, Jahnabi Saikia, Indra Mohan Bora, Amrit Ballav Goswami and Chinmoy Laskar � on charges of planning and executing the May 15 blast.

While Bora was arrested from Nagaon, Goswami was arrested from Golaghat on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Court of Special Magistrate, Kamrup (Metro), remanded Bora, Goswami and Laskar in 10-day police custody. The investigators had sought maximum period of custody. The court, on Friday, had sent Rajguru and Jahnabi to 10-day police custody.

The trio � Bora, Goswami and Laskar � according to police, was in constant touch with ULFA, mostly through social networking sites. �If required, the accused would be questioned jointly to corroborate the findings of the probe,� police sources stated.

The sources further claimed that some new names have surfaced during investigation and their roles are being analysed. �We will initiate action against them as and when we are able to connect the dots,� they added.
