GUWAHATI, July 1 � Asom Bani, the weekly published by the Assam Tribune group of newspapers, entered the 57th year of its glorious existence today.
First published on July 1, 1955, the weekly has retained its tradition of highlighting the issues pertinent to the welfare of the masses till date.
At a time when there was no platform to discuss the matters of the people, the weekly provided space to deliberate on a host of issues relevant to aspects of public life.
Distinguished men of letters have been at the helm of affairs of the weekly starting with Satish Chandra Kakati, Tilak Hazarika, Homen Borgohain, among others. The present editor of the weekly is Dilip Chandan.
In the past decade, the weekly has come up with special issues on a wide range of subjects, which earned immense appreciation from the readers.
