AIZAWL, April 18 - At least 55 non-tribals have been deported from Aizawl to Mizoram-Assam border recently.
Police said that a surprise raid was launched in the State capital by various police stations on April 15 and 16 during which 55 people were arrested for illegally living in Aizawl city without Inner Line Permit. The arrested people were later deported to Mizoram-Assam border as per a court order.
Meanwhile, a 39 year-old man was on Thursday last arrested in connection with a robbery case. Police said that a goldsmith shop in Aizawl was robbed by an unidentified person robbed gold ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh. In the process of investigation, one R Vanlalliana was arrested in connection with the robbery and a major amount of the stolen ornaments were recovered from him.
