55 active cases in Arunachal, one discharged from hospital

ITANAGAR, June 9 - In a major respite to the Arunachal Pradesh Health Department, a 30-year-old COVID-19 patient was discharged from a COVID Care Centre here after testing negative for the second successive time, official sources said today.

A returnee from Delhi, he had tested positive for COVID-19 on May 24 last. With the release of the second COVID-19 patient for a 14-day home quarantine following his recovery, the total active cases in the State has come down to 55.

Arunachal Pradesh has so far reported a total of 57 coronavirus cases, out of which two have been discharged including the State�s first positive case (a returnee from the Nizamuddin Markaz event in Delhi) from a Tezu hospital nearly two months ago.

�Glad to share that #covid19 positive from Pakke (in Pakke-Kessang) has recovered & tested consecutive two negative. He is being discharged from Covid Care Centre for 14 days Home quarantine,� Chief Minister Pema Khandu stated in a tweet in the morning.

Before being discharged from the COVID Care Centre, the visibly happy patient received a discharge slip from Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu.

A DIPR tweet said: �After his 3 consecutive swab tests came negative, Covid patient from Pakke Kesang has been discharged from Covid Care Center. He successfully recovered & was asymptomatic at the time of discharge. DC Papumpare Pige Ligu today handed over the discharge slip to him.�

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the State rose to 57 on Monday with registration of six fresh cases (all returnees at quarantine centres), including three from Changlang and one each from East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley and Tirap districts.

Changlang accounts for the highest number of positive cases with 37, followed by Itanagar Capital Complex with seven cases.

Meanwhile, according to a State Health bulletin issued today, a total of 12,012 samples for suspected coronavirus have so far been collected in the State, out of which 10,376 came negative and 57 tested positive. The results of 1,555 samples are awaited.
