SHILLONG, Aug 10 - In another significant surge, 53 new COVID-19 cases were reported today, taking the active cases to 611 in the State.
Out of these new cases, 39 were reported from West Garo Hills district and 29 of these new cases were BSF personnel. East Khasi Hills district reported 12 cases and Ri-Bhoi district 2.
In East Khasi Hills, among the new cases included one attendant to a patient at Shillong Civil Hospital, one attendant and 2 staff nurses at NEIGRIHMS.
Eight patients have recovered during the past 24 hours, health officials said. So far, the State has reported 1,114 positive cases with 498 recoveries and 6 deaths.
The total samples sent for testing till today are 41,734, out of which 39,785 have tested negative and 834 test results are awaited. A total of 26,766 people have returned to the State till today.
