50th session of Assam Science Society begins

MORIGAON, Jan 8 � The 50th session of the Assam Science Society got under way at the Barah Mihir Kshetra, Morigaon with a four-day programme. Two hundred fifty delegates from across the State are participating in the event.

In the morning, the Kshetra was opened by Dr Dhireswar Kalita, general secretary, ASS. This was followed by a national seminar on the topic �New Perspective of Science and Technology Education�, which was inaugurated by Dr Kulendu Pathak, former Vice Chancellor of DU.

In his address, Dr Pathak stressed the need for independence of the teaching community for the all-round development of higher education.

Dr Anil Goswami, former Principal of Cotton College, conducted the second session of the seminar where Dr Barindra Sarma, former Gauhati University Professor, delivered the keynote lecture.
