BONNGAIGAON, July 24 - Flash flood has affected 22,000 people in 30 villages in Srijangram and 29,901 people in 16 villages in Bijni Revenue Circle in Bongaigaon district.
At least 3,245 hectares of crop area has been affected in both the revenue circles in the district. Four boats in Bijni and five boats have been pressed into service for rescue operation in Srijangram area.
While in Chirang district over a hundred of villages have been hit by flood waters of Taklai, Nangalbhanga, Huthuti, Nizila and Aie. More than 3,000 people have been affected by the flood. The flood victims have moved out of their residences for safe shelter. However, it is alleged that the district administration has not yet provided relief materials to the flood-affected people. Meanwhile, Army has rescued many villagers and provided them relief near Bhutan border in Chirang district on Friday.
