50 year old with COVID-19 dies at SMCH

In a terrible turn of events amidst the fresh spike of COVID-19 cases, a 50 year old person who was COVID-19 afflicted died at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital on Sunday.

According to sources at the Hospital, the person identified as Manohar Gorh, a resident of Dayapur who was admitted to the hospital on March 17. " The patient was found to be RAT positive on admission and had cough and bloody expectoration. All medications as per State Government protocol was initiated. The patient was diagnosed to be suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis and necessary attention was given. Unfortunately, he expired on Sunday," said Dr Babul Kumar Bezbaruah, principal of SMCH.
In his words, two more COVID-19 positive patients are admitted at the hospital and undergoing treatment and the cases are gradually rising.
This is the first case of death due to COVID-19 after we lost a patient on January 3 this year. We urge upon people to maintain safety norms since another wave is thudding at our doors,Dr Bezbaruah informed.
