50 more cases in Mizoram

AIZAWL, Nov 24 - Fifty more people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Mizoram, taking the State�s COVID-19 tally to 3,710 today.

An official source said the 50 new cases were detected after testing of 1,746 samples in the TrueNat laboratories of district hospitals and the Zoram Medical College RT-PCR laboratory, and through rapid antigen tests.

The new patients include nine BSF jawans who had returned from election duty in Bihar, six children and three elderly persons.

Lawngtlai district reported the highest number of new cases at 22, followed by Aizawl and Serchhip (nine cases each) and Champhai (eight cases).

Mizoram currently has 502 active COVID-19 cases, while 3,203 people have already recovered from the disease. Five persons have also succumbed to the infection in the State.
