AGARTALA, Oct 28 - The overall COVID-19 situation improved in Tripura during the Durga Puja festivities with only five deaths due to the virus reported from the State since October 24, official sources said.
The five casualties include a physician, Dr Bablu Sukla Das, who worked in the Biochemistry Department of the Agartala Government Medical College. The total virus death toll in Tripura has now risen to 341.
On the other hand, 36 new cases have been detected in the last 24 hours after testing of 712 samples. While the State�s positivity rate stands at 6.73 per cent, the recovery rate has improved to 93.60 per cent. The fatality rate is 1.13 per cent, according to a media bulletin issued by the Tripura Health Department here today.
As of now, the State has 1,594 COVID-19 active cases, while 28,332 patients have already recovered so far. The total COVID-19 tally stands at 30,293.
However, many are apprehensive that positive cases might increase in the coming days as even the basic guidelines were grossly ignored during the puja festivities.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said, �Antibody tests are being carried out to check the antibody level of frontline workers. The result is yet to come as the tests have been on for a week. I hope the virus situation will continue to improve in the State.�
