GUWAHATI, Feb 17 � Five top leaders of the KPLT militant outfit were today apprehended by the troops of the Red Horns Division in a joint operation conducted with the Assam Police in West Karbi Anglong.

Based on intelligence inputs, the Army�s Red Horns Division along with Assam Police had launched one of the most massive crackdowns against the KPLT on February 14. Interrogation of the hardcore members of the outfit apprehended earlier in the operation had given the Army leads about the presence of some other cadres in the Lacheng area of Hamren subdivision.

Today�s capture of the five hardcore militants has taken the number of KPLT leaders nabbed by the Red Horns Division so far in the last three days to 15.

A huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered during this operation, including a Universal Machine Gun, six AK rifles, seven pistols, a grenade launcher, besides AK magazines and ammunition, among others.

This is being considered as a major success of the security forces against the outfit which has been unleashing a reign of terror in the Karbi Anglong district.
