DIPHU, Oct 16 � In a major breakthrough, Karbi Anglong police managed to nab five poachers and recovered a huge cache of arms, including an AK 56 assault rifle and ammunition from their possession from different parts of the district, as revealed by BB Chetry, SP, Karbi Anglong on Monday.
It may be mentioned here that arms and ammunition included one AK-56 rifle with 37 rounds of live ammunition, one .303 rifle and seven rounds of live ammunition and a single barreled muzzle gun were recovered from Lingdog Rongpi, resident of Langlokso under Samelangso PS during the joint operation launched by State police and security forces.
�The recovery of the sophisticated arms from the possession of the poachers indicates the involvement of insurgent groups in the rhino poaching,� Chetry revealed this during a press conference held at Diphu on Monday.
He said that a interrogation of the five will reveal more about the allege-nexus between the poachers and militant outfits.
