5 PDS licence holders, gaonburah suspended in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, April 22 - Even as allegations of corruption and nepotism in providing relief and distributing free rations under National Food Security Act and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana schemes continue to pour in from several quarters of the district, the district administration here has so far suspended the PDS licences of at least five fair price shop dealers after enquiry. One Lat Gaonburah has also been suspended for similar practice.

The suspended PDS licence holders include Chandana Boruah of No. 1 Kekurigaon, Md Joshefuddin Ahmed of Chaulkhowa, Ghana Kanta Dutta of Dhupabar Maijan Gaon, Hira Hazarika of Majgaon and Uttam Kurmi of Maijan TE Pucca Line. The suspension was ordered with immediate effect by Jugananda Changmai, Superintendent, FCS & CA functioning as Deputy Director i/c & Licencing Authority, FCS&CA, Dibrugarh.

The licences of Chandana Boruah, Md Joshefuddin Ahmed and Uttam Kurmi were suspended for reportedly distributing lesser quantity of rice than the legitimate share allotted to the beneficiaries by the government. Ghana Kanta Dutta had to forfeit his licence for realizing value against distribution of free rice to the beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantra Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana for the month of April, 2020 quota. Similarly the licence of Hira Hazarika was suspended on finding that he had not distributed the free allotted rice to some beneficiaries.

The authority concerned has, meanwhile, tagged all the beneficiaries attached with the penalized distributors with their nearest PDS licence holders for interrupted supply of TPDS items. Similarly one Ganesh Gogoi, Lat Gaonburah of Nalani Kapohua, Majpathar, Tingthengia of Tingkhong mouza under Tingkhong revenue circle has been placed under suspension for gross misconduct. He reportedly resorted to nepotism, corrupt behaviour and negligence of duty in the process of selection of beneficiaries of Rs 1000 cash assistance to people below poverty line.
