5 NSCN(I-M) ultras nabbed in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Oct 24 � Five NSCN(IM) militants have been apprehended by security forces in insurgency-hit Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh in the past couple of days, Assam Rifles sources said.

The 19 Assam Rifles (AR) stationed at Khonsa, the district headquarters, in a joint operation with State police nabbed one hardcore rebel of the outfit from Deomali yesterday, they said.

Acting on a tip off about the presence of a group of insurgents at Longkhong village, a search operation was launched after cordoning the area and self-styled corporal Rockey alias Kiran Thapa was arrested, AR sources said here today.

In an earlier operation on October 7, the AR had apprehended another cadre of the outfit Kamung Janti, who was involved in extortion activities besides providing logistic support and mobilising a group of 10-15 heavily armed cadres in the circle.

On October 11, self-styled corporal Chingang Lowang was apprehended with two Chinese grenades and a diary, they said. � PTI
