5 more govt officials get bail in cash-for-job scam

GUWAHATI, Oct 8: The Gauhati High Court today granted bail to five more Government officials who were arrested by Dibrugarh police in connection with the cash-for-job scam.

Those allowed bail are Himangshu Choudhury, Kamal Debnath, Aniruddha Roy, Raju Sahu and Jayanta Kumar Nath.

So far, the Gauhati High Court has allowed 17 accused, mostly Assam Civil Service (ACS) and Assam Police Service (APS) officers , to go on bail.

Meanwhile, the Court refrained from giving any relief to another three accused - Jaydeb Mahanta, Nishamoni Deka and Pallavi Sarma Choudhury -whose bail petitions too came up for hearing today.

The Court has asked the investigators to submit the case diary in the next hearing fixed on Thursday.
