5 more BSF men test positive in Mizoram

By Correspondent

AIZAWL, July 6 - Five more BSF personnel at the paramilitary forces quarantine centre at Vanhne in southern Mizorams Lunglei town have tested positive for novel coronavirus, bringing the states tally to 191.

Out of 25 samples tested at Lunglei Civil Hospitals Truenat Lab yesterday, the five BSF personnel came out positive, an official source said.

They are all asymptomatic, quarantined at Vanhne BSF camp in Lunglei district, the source said.

Earlier on Sunday, two BSF personnel from this camps quarantine centre had tested positive.

The two BSF personnel who had tested positive earlier were found to have gone to Lunglei Civil Hospital for medical checkup without prior information and consent of the district administration, i.e., on July 3. This prompted the Lunglei DC to issue an order today that no BSF or any paramilitary personnel from outside the state shall come to Lunglei or Lunglei district without the prior approval of the competent authority and the knowledge of the district administration henceforth.

According to the order, the BSF men came to Lunglei from inside and outside the State without written intimation to the district administration. This resulted in two BSF men, who later tested positive for coronavirus, going to the civil hospital without the civil administrations knowledge, thereby resulting in serious threat to the civilians.
