5 killed, 4 hurt in Arunachal mishap

ITANAGAR, Jan 3 - Five persons, including a minor girl, died on the spot and four others sustained grievous injuries when the vehicle they were traveling in met with a road accident near Tiwari village, about 21 kms from Roing, the headquarters of Lower Dibang Valley district in Arunachal Pradesh.

Police said the mishap took place on Saturday evening when the Innova vehicle carrying nine people coming from Mayudia skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Tiwari village killing five persons on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Rajiv Bharali, Sashanka Saikia, Biman Phukan, his wife Moni Phukan and their seven-year-old daughter Ankita. The injured persons � Ishan Bharali, Aditya Bharali, Ishan Aditya Bharali � all aged between 10-14 years and driver Dulen Kochari were referred to Dibrugarh Medical College and Hospital in Assam, the police informed. The passengers were returning from Mayudia to Sivasagar, Assam after enjoying a picnic there.
