IMPHAL, Feb 5 � Five persons including four women were killed and 22 others seriously injured when a passenger bus NLN-73-7 fell into a deep gorge near Makhan Tabio village, 85 km north here around 4.50 pm yesterday.
The incident took place when the bus with 27 people was returning from Chawainamai village under Mao Assembly constituency after casting their votes at a polling station where re-poll were conducted on Saturday, reports here said.
Two women and the driver of the bus died on the spot while two more women succumbed to injuries at Assam Rifles hospital at Maram in Senapati district. A police team had a hectic time in rescuing and evacuating the victims. Police said, �Most of the injured persons have been evacuated to Kohima and Imphal hospitals for treatment.�
