5 hunger strikers admitted to hospital

AIZAWL, May 7 � Five persons, who were on a hunger strike for ten days protesting the termination of services of laboratory attendants and clerks here, have been admitted to Aizawl Civil Hospital here.

Doctors said that 24 people have been brought to the hospital so far out of which five persons were admitted as they were extremely weak due to prolonged fasting.

Around 50 former laboratory attendants and clerks under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) went on a hunger strike on April 27 demanding that they should be re-employed. The Centre withdrew the funds under the RMSA prompting the State Government to terminate the services of 366 people. � PTI
