GUWAHATI, Jan 10 - Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship gave away the National Entrepreneurship Awards (NEA) 2018 to 30 outstanding young entrepreneurs and three entrepreneurship ecosystem builders for their exceptional contribution towards nation building through entrepreneurship, at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi recently, said a press release here today.
The awards were given away in the presence of Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation and Anant Kumar Hegde, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). Each awardee received Rs 5 lakh in cash, a certificate and a trophy.
Among the award winners, five are from Assam and the North East. They are: Tana Sumpa of Arunachal who is successfully running piggeries and fisheries; Dulu Moni Kalita of Darrang district in Assam who is successfully running her venture Moni Handicraft Centre; Rahul Baruah and Anupam Nath of Assam who are founders of www.getkraft.in, an e-commerce platform dedicated to connecting the artisans of North East; Dr Vanramhlimpuii of Mizoram who launched M/s Zonu Meat Processing, and Maipaksana Rajkumar of Manipur who indigenously designed and developed trolleys for lifting LPG cylinders and other heavy objects.
Meanwhile, for the first time in 2018, IIT Guwahati-Technology Incubation Centre (IITG-TIC) has been appointed the regional partner institute, with the headship of Prof Konjengbam Darunkumar Singh and Himujjall Sarmah. The IIT Guwahati team has reached out to promote and encourage young generation entrepreneurs to participate in the NEA Programme.
