5 from Assam clear UPSC Exam

NEW DELHI, Aug 4 - At least five candidates from Assam have cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination, 2019, the results of which were announced here today.

According to the merit list, Aranyak Saikia, son of Asam Sahitya Sabha president and former Director General of Assam Police Kuladhar Saikia, has secured the 59th position. Saikia had earlier also cleared the UPSC exam and is currently serving as an IPS officer in the Karnataka Police.

Following Saikia is Sizal Agarwal of Jorhat who has secured the 112th position. Others in the list are Nivedita Dutta who secured the 697th position, Tapan Deka who secured the 766th position and Kishore Sutradhar who secured the 784th position.

Pradeep Singh has topped the UPSC Civil Services Examination, 2019, while Jatin Kishore and Pratibha Verma have secured the second and third positions respectively.

The commission has recommended 829 candidates for appointment. The list of candidates, who have cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination of 2019, can be checked online at upsc.gov.in.

Of the total recommended candidates, 304 are from general category, 78 from economically weaker section (EWS), 251 from other backward classes (OBC), 129 from scheduled castes (SC) and 67 from scheduled tribes (ST) category.

Out of the top 25 rank holders, 13 are males and 12 are females.

The candidature of 66 recommended candidates is �provisional� while the result of 11 candidates has been kept �withheld� as per the official notice.
