GUWAHATI, Oct 19 - A police team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Noonmati) Pallav Tamuli busted two dens of drug peddlers in the city on Saturday.
During the operation carried out at Ambari and Pragati Nagar, police arrested five drug peddlers � Nur Islam alias Babu, Siddar Golam Osmani, Najidul Islam, Sukur Ali and Alauddin Ali � and seized 44 containers of suspected heroin from their possession.
�The main kingpin is Nur Islam. We finally succeeded in apprehending him today along with his co-peddlers and booked them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The substance seized is worth lakhs of rupees,� ACP Tamuly said.
Police also seized a number of empty containers, syringes and mobile phones from the possession of the accused.
